"If there were a way to leave a 10-star review I would. Meighan and Harry were absolutely magnificent....We hope they are available when we travel again, they have spoiled us and our dogs for sure!"

RELIABLE, QUIET PET LOVERS

WILL CARE FOR

YOUR HOME AND GARDENS

...did you hear the one about the digital nomad and the homebody?

ABOUT US

Harry's recently retired, and Meighan works full-time online, so that means we're at home, all day--taking care of your pets and property.

In past years, we both worked in the US public broadcasting system (PBS) contributing to projects such as Frontline, Nova and Newton's Apple, before launching our own company, Dawson Media Group. That company focused on creating educational media for schools, museums and libraries.

Harry is a cinematographer and his work includes the box-office hit TWILIGHT, and documentaries for TNT, Discovery and others.  Harry's cinematic artworks (with artist-director Bill Viola) can be seen in a permanent installation in St. Paul's Cathedral (London), and in ongoing visiting exhibits at institutions such as the Tate Modern, MOMA, and the National Portrait Gallery, and  the Guggenheim in Bilbao.

Before turning to grant writing, Meighan worked as a designer, painter, and technician in professional theatre and opera, and then spent 25+ years working as a video producer, planning and managing everything from full-scale Civil War re-enactments to digital microscopy.

We are a fit and active couple who lead a fairly quiet life. We love to read, write, and spend time gardening, listening to frogs and crickets, cooking wonderful meals and enjoying opportunities to travel. We love to ride our bikes, take hikes, and find the beauty in small moments. We are non-smoking, tidy, and responsible. We like to spend time with our families (Harry has 3 siblings and I have 4; we have a daughter, 3 nieces, and 3 grand-nephews!).

"I highly recommend Meighan and Harry! They are wonderful people.....honest, thoughtful, dependable, and trustworthy."

Jade; Cottonwood, AZ

Harry lived in Turkey as a teenager (when his father was on a Fullbright scholarship) and that launched his love for experiencing new cultures. Meighan studied Spanish for more than 9 years, and loves the opportunity to practice and learn through travel. We've been lucky to travel in Russia, the UK, Ireland, France, Mexico, Spain, Morocco, China, and Hungary. In 2018 we bought a small travel trailer and drove around the US and Canada, combining house sitting with camping in beautiful locations.

About Us

Pet care

We've cared for dogs, cats, horses, poultry, and other interesting friends. We'll take care of your pets, and love them the way you would, if you were home.

We understand special diets, the need for following very specific regimens, and the importance of giving your pets all the love we have, every single day. We aren't at a point in our lives where we feel we can take on the long-term responsibility of our own pets, so living with and loving other people's pets is very important to us.

"Meighan and Harry were careful to not let Sadie gain weight .... a problem with labs who will eat anything, all the time! They walked her regularly, and spent a lot of time playing with her in the yard."

Claire; Durham, NC

Meighan grew up in a family that bred and raised dogs, and the moms and puppies always lived in the house, along with cats, hamsters and other adoptees. She had horses through her school years, including a darling Welsh pony/Arabian named Brandy, the free spirited Baron, and the klutzy yet lovable Skid. At different times her family had chickens and turkeys, who hung out in the stable to keep warm through the Minnesota winters.

Harry grew up with family dogs and cats, and for awhile they even fostered an orphaned baby fox. As a fifth-generation Oregonian, he spent summers on the family ranch bucking hay bales, keeping the irrigation running, and generally helping get all the work done.

In 2017, we lost our cat Sid, adopted as an 8-month old rescue who was so sick the vet wouldn't give him his vaccinations. Meighan wore him in a baby sling for 2 weeks and nursed him back to health, and loved him every minute for the next 17 years. Our vet came to our home and I held him in my arms for his final moments. Losing a pet is so hard, but the important thing to focus on is the love and care we give them while they are in our lives.

We also had the joy of our 65-pound dog Buddy, a hound rescue we adopted in 2004. He was on regular medication for seizures, but we still made midnight rides to the vet when there was a bad one. He developed osteosarcoma in 2011 and the vet said he had only 4 months to live. We weren't done loving him yet, so Meighan researched a dog cancer diet, found non-drug options, and nursed him to a full remission. We were able to take him to work with us every day, even when he got to the point that we were lifting him in and out of the car until--at the age of 16--it was time to let him go. Towards the end there were issues with incontinence, stairs, and other challenges, but we knew that as long as he was dancing for dinner and breakfast he was still happy to be alive--and we were happy to have him to love.
